From 40 Days For Life: DAY 4: 354 cities ... 25 countries

image

Dear Deacon John,
After we launched 40 Days for Life nationally in 2007 ... the world came knocking. This campaign, we welcome three new countries ... and they're on three different continents:
  • Malawi in Africa
  • Paraguay in South America
  • Switzerland in Europe
Faithful Christians are holding vigils in these countries, that are very far apart, for a simple reason: the abortion crisis is global.
Abortion is the leading cause of death in the world ... with an estimated 56 million happening every year.
While the crisis is global ... so is the solution: Prayer.
From now until March 25, this 40 Days for Life campaign is taking place in 25 countries around the world …
… and if you're in a place where the weather is very cold right now, enjoy some 40 Days for Life pictures from places where it's warmer!

Perth, Australia

The 40 Days for Life campaign is back in Perth for a seventh Lenten vigil.
Jo, the Perth coordinator, gave a shout out to Bob, one of their most determined volunteers, who had been praying at the vigil "for five hours in 42-degree heat." That's 42 degrees Celsius – 107 degrees Fahrenheit.
"I can't believe his stamina and am amazed at his faithfulness every single week," she said.
"Please come and pray," Jo asked. The abortion facility "never ceases to stop, unfortunately. So neither should we!"

Jos, Nigeria

Jos is again emphasizing community outreach in this, its sixth 40 Days for Life campaign.
Maureen, the local coordinator, and her team held a presentation for students at a school in the area ... and she said it was quite successful.
The main kickoff event took place at the Catholic chaplaincy at the University of Jos, where once again the team was encouraged by the response from young adults.
"May the Lord strengthen each and everyone throughout this campaign," Maureen prayed, "so that more lives will be saved."

Christchurch, New Zealand

The volunteers in Christchurch have started their fourth 40 Days for Life campaign with great enthusiasm.
"And what a huge success it was," said one of the team members. "We had honking with cheering and waving ... and we have definitely begun to pique the curiosity of our Christchurch community!"
The vigil in Christchurch is held outside a hospital where abortions take place. "It is a truly humbling experience to be praying for our most vulnerable and contributing to a culture of life in our society."

Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name Jesus. He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.”
— Luke 1:30-33
Heavenly Father, you have made the womb of each woman a very special place. Help us to hold fast to the sanctity of this first home of humanity, remembering the wonderful mystery, that God inhabited the womb of a young woman and came forth as the savior and deliverer of the world.

Ahhh...damage severe at EMC BX LifeHouse...repairs needed ASAP

Image

On a cold cold few recent nights...
we experienced, once again, a brutal winter of severe cold, and as a result EMC's Bronx LifeHouse took a hit with frozen pipes and some serious damage!

Can you help us restore it?
In a spirit of Lenten sacrifice, please help us house pro-life workers, now!

Image
The guys basement bathroom shower is bad news! Immediate repairs needed! Help today!

Please help me pay for $6,500 in emergency plumbing repairs, and materials for volunteer repairs to get our vital Bronx Life-House back in action!   Give please to help us restore our critically needed house in the Bronx, NY atwww.EMCFrontLine.org
Open walls above kitchen sink are a major eyesore. Help!

The Bronx LifeHouse has housed literally hundreds of  interns in the past 10 years, and their home is in a shambles thanks to the recent "Bomb Cyclone" that froze our pipes and cost me $4,500 in emergency plumbing repairs already! I need to recover that and spend on the these major patches, and while seeking free labor I need to buy materials so I am looking at close to $5,200 needed at least!

Girls bathroom sink. is gutted! Help me get it back in action ASAP!
I have pro-life intern candidates ready to move in as soon as I get these repairs made.  Please act!

Can you please send me immediate help with a large or small gift right now? God bless you, and keep you.

Yours for Life,

Chris Slattery, founder and Director of Expectant Mother Care-EMCFrontLine Pregnancy Centers

Hospital Intent on Starving Patient to Death

Hospital Intent on Starving Patient to Death

JACKSONVILLE, Fla., Feb. 16, 2018 /Christian Newswire/ -- A hospital in Jacksonville, Florida wants to withdraw food and water from a patient who recently suffered a gunshot wound. Joel Zuniga was unable to breathe on his own after being shot. Only two weeks after his injury, the hospital unilaterally determined to remove Joel's ventilator, over the objections of his family.

Fr. David Nix, the family's priest and a former EMT and paramedic, encouraged the family to instruct the hospital not to give Joel a heavy dose of narcotics when doctors removed the ventilator, so as not to suppress his ability to breathe. The hospital begrudgingly complied.

Fr. Nix was present to administer last rites. Joel struggled to breathe for a few minutes and then, miraculously, began taking full breaths! He has now been off of artificial respiration for two days and his vital signs are good.

Although Joel has suffered brain damage and is unable to speak, he is awake and is starting to show some response when his family talks to him.

Now the hospital is refusing to provide Joel with proper nutrition and hydration. The family finally convinced doctors to give Joel an IV, but they still refuse to feed Joel. Health care providers have also tried to pressure Joel's parents-who only speak Spanish-to sign a form that would only give Joel "comfort" care in an attempt to withdraw all treatment, including food, water, and antibiotics.

As we write this, a Life Legal affiliate attorney is in court, fighting for Joel's life.

"Joel is 33 years old and he was shot in the head. He survived the gunshot and was on a ventilator at Memorial Hospital for two weeks. When he was taken off the ventilator, he immediately began breathing on his own. Joel is even able to make eye contact and he understands us. Joel's projected "quality-of-life" is the reason his physician has decided to withhold all food from this patient. Happily, Alex, his brother recorded this conversation of clear euthanasia. The staff at Memorial Hospital is starving him to death and we are so thankful that Legal Defense Foundation is willing to fight for Joel's life." Fr. Dave Nix

"This is one of the most egregious cases of denial of health care I have ever seen," said Alexandra Snyder, Life Legal Defense Foundation's Executive Director. "Joel's parents are in a particularly vulnerable position because they do not speak English. The hospital is exploiting their inability to question its course of action that are putting Joel's life at risk. Joel is a young man in his early thirties who is showing remarkable signs of recovery, yet the hospital is taking aggressive measures to end his life."
